Perched on the verdant valleys of the Western Ghats, Coorg is heaven on earth. The Bramhagiri hills engulfed in fog as bleak sunrays adorn the hills is a surreal moment. Kodagu, formerly Coorg, is a southern district in Karnataka known for its breathtaking natural bounty and offbeat tourist places. Rice fields and coffee plantations stretch endlessly along the road; women are often seen toiling in the coffee fields, providing a local perspective of Coorgi cuisine and lifestyle. The climate can be extremely chilly in the early morning, though the weather is relatively pleasant otherwise. Visiting Coorg during the monsoons will provide a richer experience of its beauty, though the hill station is prone to landslides during heavy rains. Exploring Coorgi cuisine like pandi curry, akki roti, and authentic coffee is surely a must-do thing in Coorgi. Abbey Falls is a tourist hotspot in Coorg, while tiny brooks cascading down the hills add to its picturesque beauty. Kaveri River, which is the lifeline of southern Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, originates in Bhagamandala, Coorg, and is revered by Hindus from all over South India. The Buddhist monastery in Kushalanagara offers historical, spiritual, and religious history. The winding roads amidst the western ghats render the perfect trip one can imagine, while the country roads make one feel at home. In recent years, many homestays have popped up as tourists enjoy the tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of cities. Like many other hill stations in south India, nature lovers from across the world pay a visit to Coorg, also known as the "Scotland of India." Nagarahole National Park and Nisarga Dhama host a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, hyenas, and spotted deer. It’s a paradise for explorers and bird watchers. Due to the rugged topography, Coorg is also a favorite spot of adventurers. Rock climbing, rafting, and biking activities are affordable and will rejuvenate one’s spirit. Coorg is a great place to let one’s hair down and listen to the murmur of uncharted waters. To savor coffee and gaze at the starry sky. To connect with oneself and be grateful for the gifts nature bestowed on us. Tourists are encouraged to practice sustainable travel and adhere to the norms of the forest department. Tucked away in the rolling hills of Karnataka, Coorg promises a peaceful and serene ambiance. One can’t get enough of its beauty after visiting the place, as the ancient forests beckon us again and again!
